A Commitment and Vision for Justice of the Peace

My Commitment to Justice and Community

I am running for Justice of the Peace because my 23 years in law enforcement and my entire life story have prepared me to serve our community with fairness, deep legal knowledge, and compassion.

A Foundation Built on Resilience

My life began with humble roots in Tucson, Arizona. As the youngest of six children, I learned the value of hard work and resilience early on. We moved frequently, and I witnessed the meaning of perseverance firsthand. I recall the years we spent near the cotton fields in Coolidge, Arizona, and the time we lived in a truck camper in Globe, running an electrical cord from the local bar, The Red Roan. Those hard times—gathering donated food and learning to live off the land—shaped my character. Though we often went to bed hungry, I prefer to call those times “free.” They instilled in me a deep appreciation for community and profound empathy for those facing hardship.

My family eventually settled here, and though we moved a few times, it was El Paso that became my true home. The move away during my junior year of high school only solidified my love for this city.

23 Years of Protecting and Serving

My desire to serve led me to the El Paso Police Academy, where I was commissioned on January 10, 1997, with the 93rd police class. I went on to serve the citizens of El Paso for 23 distinguished years, retiring as a Sergeant with a Master Peace Officer License.

My heart has always been in patrol, actively engaging with the community and handling incidents directly, meeting the community on a personal level and helping solve the issues that affect them and their lives. I dedicated the majority of my career to the Northeast Regional Command, where I not only worked but also lived since the early 90s. This experience gave me a boots-on-the-ground understanding of our local laws and the community’s unique needs. My roles also included serving as an Intelligence Sergeant at the MATRIX/Fusion Center and Criminal Investigations Sergeant on the Westside, working with amazing teams that required sharp analytical skills and precise application of complex legal statutes.

Throughout my career, I was committed to studying law and legislation, attending classes at UTEP and specialized training, grounding my work in the principles of American Jurisprudence.

Continued Service in the Judicial System

After my retirement from the EPPD in 2019, I realized I still had a profound commitment to public service. Driven by a desire to apply my extensive knowledge, I transitioned directly into the judicial system. Since March of 2022, I have proudly served as a Bailiff for the 383rd District Family Court. Working alongside the dedicated team in Family Court, I have gained invaluable insight into court procedures and the gravity of judicial decisions.

Beyond my duties in court, I work directly with the Council of Judges to develop and refine court policy and procedure. This experience has allowed me to instruct new bailiffs on Texas law, proper application, and relevant case law, demonstrating a comprehensive, working expertise in judicial administration and the enforcement of law.

Now is the time to apply my integrity, hard work, and decades of legal experience to the office of Justice of the Peace. I am ready to ensure that justice is administered fairly, efficiently, and with the full respect our beautiful community deserves.

I ask for your vote to continue my service to you as your next Justice of the Peace Precinct 2
